Austin n00b question: non-car transit from US290

So, like many of the budget minded, I'm not quite walking distance from the convention center. I'm at the convergence of I-35 and US-290 at the Wyndham Inn. (Not to be confused with the Wyndham Hill Inn ... then I'd really have to be hard up for cash.)

I've got a cheap rental car, but I'd love to avoid driving it. I see tantalizing looking bus icons on Google Maps. Will a bus get me in and out? Does it run late at night, or do you start thinking pedicabs or (eep) autocabs then?

Heck, if I can work this out, might cancel that rental car.

There's a big cluster of hotels there, so perhaps other people will be in the same boat?

Go to the capmetro.org and use the Trip Planner. You'll be entering in this trip:

From 6TH STREET DISTRICT to N I-35 & E US HIGHWAY 290 (and reverse)

It looks doable in the morning AND at night, which is good news for you.

Yeah, actually friend who has family in Austin suggest the same thing, and it looks fantastic! Thanks!

It's a beautiful thing to be able to *cancel* the car reservation. :D
